We got in around 7am and promptly passed out. About an hour later Mom was on her way out for her hair appointment and she popped back into the house because she forgot her cell phone. Then, I wake up to a huge crashing noise that I just can't process. I hear Mom yelling for his dad. I'm curious and especially so because of the note of panic in her voice. I run downstairs and out front.
Our car is on the street, it's fine; his dad's van is in front of our car, also fine. Then there is something in the middle of the lawn that my brain is telling me can't possibly be for real.

So, yes. This is Mom's car that had been parked in the driveway. I have no words.
One neighbor is a nurse and she came out, another nurse was driving past and stopped. The police and ambulance arrived within 5 minutes (longest 5 minutes of my life!)
Apparently the truck had run a light about a half mile up the road and clipped another car. He was speeding away from that accident and somehow lost control in front of the neighbor's house. He launched the truck into the air from the driveway, it started flipping around, and then slammed into Mom's car sitting in the driveway.
The driver was ejected from his truck, no seat belt, and he was unharmed. His girlfriend/passenger was wearing her seat belt. She was conscious and talking, the two nurses were talking her through everything, reassuring her etc. I held an umbrella over them all because it was pouring. I think she will be okay though we're pretty sure that her arm was broken.
They rolled the truck over and towed it off on a flat bed and I went to work documenting whatever I could for Mom & Dad.

I think my favorite part of this whole thing is when the tow truck pulling Mom's car out gets stuck and calls a flatbed in to pull him out.

The absolute kicker to this story is that Mom's birthday is tomorrow. Oh, and where is she during all this? She went to her hair appointment leaving us with the instructions to please shut off her lights and make the horn stop blaring.
"We just can't make this shit up man!"
Thankfully no one was seriously injured.
